Default Noob question on in-game meets for trading

Hi, I've tried messaging a number of people from this site to buy stuff from them, and even when they've just posted I get told they're not online. Then it occurred to me that maybe I need to sort out districts etc. I'm pretty sure you don't need to be in the same language district, but do you need to be in the same area, eg. Europe, Asia, America International? People only leave their IGNs for contact. Is that all, or do I need to know anything else?

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but I did check the FAQs and didn't find an answer

EDIT: Yes I know this forum is separate from the game and online here doesn't mean online there, I simply thought it stands to reason that if they have just posted offers here then there would be a good chance they're in-game for a while afterwards.
I have not been using the friends list, and will try doing that. Thankyou for your help

You dont think that if it says online on the forum, that they are online ingame? right?

no u dun have to be in the same language district

however, u should be adding them to friends list, not pm'ing them
ur post is unclear to which one ur doing

but they could be playing under a different character, than the ign listed
pm's r ign based, friends list is account based
so its better to use friends list to check online status

if that was not the case, and u r using friends list
then they could be either offline or jus appearing offline
"they've jus posted" means they could be jus browsing guru, and not logged on gw

Add them to your friends list and routinely check to see if they are on.

When they are online, then pm them.

That is the only way to realistically go about doing this type of trade.
